An anesthesiologist will make you feel comfortable prior to the procedure. We start all procedures by placing a small tube in an artery in the groin, leg and/or foot. This allows access to the area with blockage.
We use tools such as wires, catheters and balloons to make a path through the blocked artery. These paths allow us to treat the blockage. We may also use a device to help break up the blockage called atherectomy. Atherectomy devices are designed to break up blockages in arteries.
Some circumstances allow us to use called drug-coated balloons and stents.
